The Food Guide Pyramid is built like a pyramid to help illustrate which food groups should be eaten the most, the least, in between, and in moderation.  The Dairy Group shares the same level as the Meat Group.  At least 2-3 servings daily should be eaten from the Dairy Group.

CHARTWELLS CREATURE:
Blue Winged Dairydactyl

Meet the Blue Winged Dairydactyl.  He thinks dairy foods are the best.  Cheeses, milk and yogurt are great sources of calcium, iron and riboflavin.  Calcium is a very important mineral that help us have strong teeth and bones.
 
What foods represent the Dairy Group?
Milk, Cheese, Yogurt, Pudding, Ice Cream, Fortified Soy Milk, Cottage Cheese
 
Suggested Servings are:
1 cup milk; 1.5 oz cheese cubes; 1 oz cottage cheese; 1 cup yogurt; 12 oz milkshake
 
Be sure to get at least 2-3 servings from the Dairy Group daily.
